About Glen Ord Distillery
Glen Ord distillery, the sole remaining single malt Scotch whisky distillery on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands, has a long history that began in 1838.
Founded by Robert Johnstone and Donald MacLennan, the distillery faced early challenges, including bankruptcy and illegal operation before new ownership in 1855 revitalized it. By the late 19th century, Glen Ord’s whisky was being exported globally, including to Singapore and South Africa. Over the years, the distillery changed hands several times, notably being acquired by James Watson & Son in 1896, and later by Thomas Dewars & Sons in 1923, eventually becoming part of Diageo.
The distillery underwent significant modernisation post-World War II, including the installation of electrical wiring in 1949 and the expansion of stills in 1966. In 2001, Glen Ord adopted Biobed Modular Plant technology for wastewater treatment, becoming the first in the UK to use this method. Today, Glen Ord produces 12-year-old, 15-year-old, and 18-year-old single malts under The Singleton of Glen Ord brand, primarily for export to Southeast Asia. It also supplies whisky for Johnnie Walker blends. The distillery, which doubled its capacity with new stills in 2014, remains a significant player in the whisky industry and offers public tours year-round.

Glen Ord is a renowned distillery located in Scotland with a rich heritage in producing fine whiskies. The rarity and quality of their products makes them desirable to collectors and enthusiasts, only increasing their value over time.
Whisky typically gains value as it ages and matures in the cask. The longer it remains in the cask, the more it has the potential to develop complexity and depth of flavors. We offer cask purchase programs that allow you to select the type of cask and aging duration, providing you with control over the maturation process.
Buying a cask allows you to own a unique piece of Bladnoch’s Kirkcowan Spirit production and a part of Bladnoch’s history. As the availability of aged and limited-edition whiskies decreases over time, the scarcity of these bottles can drive up their value.
Whisky has experienced growing popularity worldwide, particularly with the rise of collectors and investors seeking alternative assets. If the demand for premium Scotch whisky remains strong or continues to increase, it could positively impact the investment potential of your Kirkcowan Spirit (Bladnoch) cask. Recently we have seen the price of a standard bottle of Bladnoch rise from £40 to £80.
