Glenallachie Distillery
- Aberlour, Scotland
About Glenallachie Distillery
Glenallachie distillery, nestled in Aberlour within Scotland’s Speyside region, was established in 1967 at the foot of Ben Rinnes. Initially focused on producing whisky for blends, the distillery underwent a transformative relaunch, garnering acclaim for its fruity single malt expressions.
In 2017, Chivas Brothers sold Glenallachie to a consortium forming The Glenallachie Distillers Company. This move marked Glenallachie as one of Scotland’s few independently owned and managed distilleries.
Designed by S. Lothian Barclay and William Delme-Evans, the distillery boasts a picturesque setting by the Lour burn, drawing water from spring-fed and snow-fed streams on the northeast slopes of Ben Rinnes. Despite its capacity to produce 4 million litres of alcohol, Glenallachie has reduced production to 500,000 litres annually, extending fermentation time to 160 hours for enhanced flavour development.
The distillery utilises a semi-lauter mash tun, six stainless steel washbacks, and distinctive lantern and onion-shaped stills. Its gravity-fed design features horizontal condensers, facilitating temperature adjustments. With over 50,000 casks maturing in 16 warehouses, some dating back to the 1970s, Glenallachie epitomises tradition, innovation, and dedication to crafting exceptional whisky.

Glenallachie is a renowned distillery located in Scotland with a rich heritage in producing fine whiskies. The rarity and quality of their products makes them desirable to collectors and enthusiasts, only increasing their value over time.
Whisky typically gains value as it ages and matures in the cask. The longer it remains in the cask, the more it has the potential to develop complexity and depth of flavors. We offer cask purchase programs that allow you to select the type of cask and aging duration, providing you with control over the maturation process.
Buying a cask allows you to own a unique piece of Bladnoch’s Kirkcowan Spirit production and a part of Bladnoch’s history. As the availability of aged and limited-edition whiskies decreases over time, the scarcity of these bottles can drive up their value.
Whisky has experienced growing popularity worldwide, particularly with the rise of collectors and investors seeking alternative assets. If the demand for premium Scotch whisky remains strong or continues to increase, it could positively impact the investment potential of your Kirkcowan Spirit (Bladnoch) cask. Recently we have seen the price of a standard bottle of Bladnoch rise from £40 to £80.
