About Kilchoman Distillery
Kilchoman Distillery, is a renowned producer of single malt Scotch whisky located on Islay, an island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. Founded in 2005, it stands as the island’s smallest distillery, situated near Machir Bay in the northwest. Despite its size, Kilchoman has been expanding since acquiring Rockside Farm in 2015. Notably, it was the first distillery built on Islay since 1908.
Kilchoman distinguishes itself by managing all aspects of whisky production onsite, including growing barley, malting, distilling, maturing, and bottling—an approach that reflects its commitment to traditional craftsmanship. The distillery produces various expressions, utilising barley from its own farm as well as malt sourced from Port Ellen maltings.
Kilchoman’s whiskies are known for their peat levels, with those peated at Port Ellen matching Ardbeg at 50 ppm, while its own floor maltings yield approximately 20 ppm. In recent years, Kilchoman has sourced bourbon casks from Breckenridge Distillery in Colorado, marking a shift from their previous supplier, Buffalo Trace. Recognised for its quality and popularity, Kilchoman ranked second in a 2023 Cask Connoisseur ranking of whisky distilleries

Kilchoman is a renowned distillery located in Scotland with a rich heritage in producing fine whiskies. The rarity and quality of their products makes them desirable to collectors and enthusiasts, only increasing their value over time.
Whisky typically gains value as it ages and matures in the cask. The longer it remains in the cask, the more it has the potential to develop complexity and depth of flavors. We offer cask purchase programs that allow you to select the type of cask and aging duration, providing you with control over the maturation process.
Buying a cask allows you to own a unique piece of Bladnoch’s Kirkcowan Spirit production and a part of Bladnoch’s history. As the availability of aged and limited-edition whiskies decreases over time, the scarcity of these bottles can drive up their value.
Whisky has experienced growing popularity worldwide, particularly with the rise of collectors and investors seeking alternative assets. If the demand for premium Scotch whisky remains strong or continues to increase, it could positively impact the investment potential of your Kirkcowan Spirit (Bladnoch) cask. Recently we have seen the price of a standard bottle of Bladnoch rise from £40 to £80.
