About Macallan Distillery
The Macallan distillery, located in Craigellachie, Moray, is renowned for its single malt Scotch whisky and is owned by Edrington. Traditionally matured in sherry oak casks imported from Jerez, Spain, The Macallan introduced the Fine Oak series in 2004, later renamed Triple Cask Matured, which incorporates bourbon oak alongside sherry casks.
Their core offerings include the 12-year-old Sherry Oak, widely available, and the 18-year-old, along with a robust 10-year-old cask strength at 58% ABV. They also feature premium aged expressions like the 25, 30, and 40-year-olds. Special editions like the 1824 Collection and Quest Collection are marketed in duty-free shops. The Macallan is also known for rare releases and small-batch bottlings.
In recent years, notable auctions have set records for The Macallan, including a bottle of 1926 sold for £2.1 million in 2023, the highest ever for whisky. The distillery’s new £140 million facility, opened in 2019 on the Easter Elchies estate, has garnered architectural acclaim, featuring 36 stills (12 wash and 24 spirit) and enhancing the visitor experience with its award-winning design by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.

Macallan is a renowned distillery located in Scotland with a rich heritage in producing fine whiskies. The rarity and quality of their products makes them desirable to collectors and enthusiasts, only increasing their value over time.
Whisky typically gains value as it ages and matures in the cask. The longer it remains in the cask, the more it has the potential to develop complexity and depth of flavors. We offer cask purchase programs that allow you to select the type of cask and aging duration, providing you with control over the maturation process.
Buying a cask allows you to own a unique piece of Bladnoch’s Kirkcowan Spirit production and a part of Bladnoch’s history. As the availability of aged and limited-edition whiskies decreases over time, the scarcity of these bottles can drive up their value.
Whisky has experienced growing popularity worldwide, particularly with the rise of collectors and investors seeking alternative assets. If the demand for premium Scotch whisky remains strong or continues to increase, it could positively impact the investment potential of your Kirkcowan Spirit (Bladnoch) cask. Recently we have seen the price of a standard bottle of Bladnoch rise from £40 to £80.
