About Speyside Distillery

The Speyside distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery located in the Speyside region of Scotland, close to the village of Kingussie. The distillery originated from an old barley mill built in the 1760s, which was purchased in 1962 by George Christie. Christie, along with stone mason Alex Fairlie, painstakingly built the distillery by hand over two decades, completing it in 1987, with whisky production commencing in 1990.

The facility features two traditional copper pot stills, among the smallest in Scotland, reflecting Christie’s intention to avoid massive production, and the Glenspey mash tun, the last installed by Newmill engineering before the company closed down. Despite its modest size, the distillery can produce 600,000 litres of alcohol per year and is the second southernmost whisky distillery in Speyside, drawing its water directly from the River Tromie.

Since 2012, Harvey’s of Edinburgh has owned The Speyside distillery company. Historically, the Christie family produced Drumguish, Speyside, and Glentromie whiskies, along with other bottlings such as the blends Glen Hood and Scottish Prince, and cask strength single malts under the name Scotts Selection.

Speyside is a renowned distillery located in Scotland with a rich heritage in producing fine whiskies. The rarity and quality of their products makes them desirable to collectors and enthusiasts, only increasing their value over time.

Whisky typically gains value as it ages and matures in the cask. The longer it remains in the cask, the more it has the potential to develop complexity and depth of flavors. We offer cask purchase programs that allow you to select the type of cask and aging duration, providing you with control over the maturation process.

Buying a cask allows you to own a unique piece of Bladnoch’s Kirkcowan Spirit production and a part of Bladnoch’s history. As the availability of aged and limited-edition whiskies decreases over time, the scarcity of these bottles can drive up their value.

Whisky has experienced growing popularity worldwide, particularly with the rise of collectors and investors seeking alternative assets. If the demand for premium Scotch whisky remains strong or continues to increase, it could positively impact the investment potential of your Kirkcowan Spirit (Bladnoch) cask. Recently we have seen the price of a standard bottle of Bladnoch rise from £40 to £80.
